About R-600a Refrigerant
R-600a, also known as isobutane, is a refrigerant-grade hydrocarbon used in compatible domestic and commercial refrigeration applications. It offers a very low global warming potential (GWP) and strong thermodynamic performance, making it an increasingly common choice for appropriately designed refrigeration systems.
R-600a may be used in equipment designed as an alternative to certain legacy refrigerants, including R-12 and R-134a, but it must not be used as a drop-in replacement unless specifically approved by the equipment manufacturer.
